BEI Exam Scholarship Policy
This scholarship acts as test reimbursement for the BEI performance exam registration.
Registration fees are as follows (subject to change)
BEI Basic- $145.00
BEI Advanced- $170.00
BEI Master- $195.00
BEI Level III Intermediary- $50.00
BEI Level V Intermediary- $50.00
Applicants must provide proof of registration with receipt of payment.
The scholarship may only be awarded for future testing dates and will not be awarded retroactively.
The awardee must email a copy of their official DHHS BEI exam confirmation showing their scheduled test date.
The scholarship will be awarded with a physical check within two weeks prior to the exam date.
The scholarship will be awarded twice per CSID fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
The first scholarship will be awarded September 1st, with application due by August 31st.
The second scholarship will be awarded March 1st, with application due by February 28th (or the last day of the month.)
An individual may only receive this scholarship once per CSID fiscal year (July 1-June 30.)
An individual may apply for the March scholarship if not selected during the September application.
All CSID members in good standing at the time of application are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
A member in good standing is classified as an individual who has registered and paid the membership for the current fiscal year.
Membership levels are Student, Supporting and Certified.
Student member: an individual who is above the age of 18 and is currently enrolled in college or university classes.
Supporting member: an individual from the community who is not a student or certified interpreter. This includes, but is not limited to, uncertified interpreters, Deaf community members, teachers, etc.
Certified member: an individual who has received their BEI or RID certification.
The recipient will be chosen by a randomized generator from the pool of applicants for each scholarship opportunity.
The selection will be recorded and the name shared on social media and emailed to CSID members for transparency purposes.
Applicants may opt out of public notification. In this case, the board will meet via Zoom to supervise the selection process.
If the awardee cancels their exam their scholarship will not be awarded.
If the awardee reschedules their exam within the same CSID fiscal year, they may still be awarded the scholarship.
