Local Internships
Local internships are a great way to learn new and highly employable skills (especially great for those intested in History and Digital Humanities) and that are a safe and fun option to get credit during these COVID-19 times.
Please check back here at the start and end of the semester for information on local internships opportunities and events that I host for you to learn more and ask questions.

Together with the Friends of Thomas Memorial AME Zion Church in Watertown, NY, the League is inviting interested students for a summer internship to collect, document, and make available to the public the memories and stories of former parishioners of Thomas Memorial AME Zion Church and members of the community surrounding the church. Tasks include:
Working with the Friends group to identify people to interview
Completing required reading and online oral history training
Reaching out to and interviewing people who have memories and stories to share
Documenting the stories to create an archive that will become part of the permanent record of the church
Producing a public-facing presentation that will teach, engage, and start an ongoing conversation about the church’s role in Watertown’s African American community. This can be a poster session, video, podcast, performance, webpage, etc. or a combination thereof.
This project can be done remotely but may require some travel to Watertown. A stipend of $2,500 (pending grant approval by March 28, 2023) will be provided for 10 hrs./wk for the summer internship.
