Candis Haak is an Associate Professor in the History Department at the State University of New York, Oswego, and the Director of the Digital Humanities Minor. She specializes in Digital Humanities and South Asian pre-colonial history and material culture, with a particular focus on ritual landscapes, deathways, and pilgrimage practices. Her research aims to develop interdisciplinary methodologies to investigate religious materiality and the corporeal experience of South Asian medieval sacred landscapes.
Dr. Haak received her Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Archaeology from the University of Toronto in 2007. She then earned her Master’s degree in Archaeology (Landscape Stream) from University College Dublin in 2008. She completed her PhD in Anthropology at the University of Toronto in 2018.
