The military models were largely based upon the civilian 1974 Track 'n' Trail. But the military were fitted with a larger long range steel tank and de-tuned engine, by way of a different rotary disc fitted.
The Canadian, Belgium and British Military Models were each fitted with various designs of luggage racks.
The military Can-Am lasted around 5-6 years. Until it was phased out and replaced by the MT500 Armstong (CCM) 4-stroke from 1985 onwards.
Sadly, parent company, Bombardier of Canada, dropped Can-Am and ended all motorcycle production in September 1987. ATVs and made a return however in the mid 2000s at the Dakar Rally. This has led onto to Can-Am BRP and the release of the three wheeled Spider and most recently the electic 2-wheeler.
