Education Starts Within a Teacher's Grasp

A loved teacher creates a loving classroom. In a classroom setup, a student’s point of view notes that the customs are teachers, lessons, and assessments. These are what make a student feel that education is within their hands.
What they don’t see are the hidden factors that build a happy classroom. Looking through an educator’s scope, it must be a complicated mission. A K–12 student has their own level-ranking up year after year until they graduate from college and eventually finish their studies. That is a much more basic path compared to an educator’s.
In a release by the Department of Education (DepEd) in August 2025, the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System was introduced to public school teachers and school heads. The very fruit of this is the vision of a happy teacher leading to a happy class and a happy education venture.
One of the system’s highlights is the expanded positions for school staff. According to the Chief of Curriculum Implementation, Bryan Cariaga, in a press conference held at Camarines Sur National High School on December 8, 2025, DepEd opened more positions for teachers and master teachers.
The former setup of an educational institution included Teacher I, II, and III, while Master Teachers also had three positions. With the ECP System introduced, teachers now have seven positions to fill and five positions for Master Teachers. Through this, a teacher no longer stands stagnant in the same position until retirement. The release truly has given educators the recognition they deserve so that no teacher feels less prioritized and rather loved by the nation they build as they teach the future generation.
“Recognizing excellence in education starts with recognizing excellence among our educators,” Cariaga mentioned—highlighting that the ECP System not only helps educators but also the fruit of their labor: education.
DepEd has raised a significant change for educators. Through this, hope for education glimmers more for the sake of their beloved learners.
