The ropes Course at camp! Source
WEEK ONE
MONDAY
Dear Diary,
It is the first day of Camp Olympus! I am so thrilled oh my gosh!! I seem to be the only camper that is just jumping out of their fins with excitement! OH! Guess what? …This is a diary, Penny; nobody is going to answer… anyways… I just found out that this year there is a contest for group leader! All the other years the counselors would always just elect Zac since his dad is Zeus, but that’s stupid and finally others realized it was stupid too. I’m not sure what day it is going to be on yet; I am going to start training in all areas just in case! If it is a popularity contest I would definitely win, I mean I have been coming here since dad got custody when I was 8! Everyone knows me here! Camp is literally my favorite place in the entire world. Oh, dinner bell just rang! I’ll write when I can!

WEDNESDAY
Dear Diary,
So sorry I could not write yesterday, I know you missed me. Yesterday was all of the boring safety drills. The only safety lessons the newcomers need are how to avoid Andrew, the son of Ares! I swear his temper has only gotten worse from last year if that is even possible… The contest gossip is in full swing by now; we had one mini contest yesterday. It was a ropes course! The front-runners for camp leader are easily Alexa and myself. I came in second, but Alexa totally cheated! See, she knows she is drop-dead gorgeous and the boys will do anything she says so she had them mess with my course! I can’t exactly prove it, but I know that there was something fishy going on! The ropes course is my second strongest camp activity, only behind swimming! Her introduction online was so fake. She loves showing off her body and thinks she is just the angelfish, but she is a shark! Mark my words!

THURSDAY
Dear Diary,
So I do not know how I’m going to tell my dad about this one…I kinda sorta lost my cool and created a flood. Not just a baby flood either that you get taught in swim school, I’m talking full blown daddy using my middle name type of flood. Let me explain, you see today was a timed scavenger hunt. Alexa and I were tied for first. Since I know she cheated yesterday I figured I could cheat a little today! Well, during this scavenger hunt we had to find a buried treasure on the campgrounds. We were both in the right spot for it and started digging! Once we reached the treasure box she pulled my hair and dragged me to the ground so she could grab it first! Some words were said and next thing I knew I was creating a massive flood! Since I beat her in any and all water activities she was gasping for breath while I got the box and swam away with it! Moral of the story is that I won the scavenger hunt and Alexa looked like a wet dog with mascara running down her face. Man, I wish I had a picture of it! Anyways I got dish duty for my punishment so I have to go.

FRIDAY
Dear Diary,
I AM THE CHAMPION I WON I WON I WON!!!
After a few more unimportant competitions I came out the winner! I hate the competitive side of myself; I guess I get that from dad. I am going to be the best camp leader of all time! Plus now I get to sit in for all of the conferences between the campers and counselors AKA I get to know all of the dirty secrets that go around the camp! Gossip freakin’ heaven. Of course I would not leave you hanging, you will get all of the dirt too! It’s a chill weekend so I am sure nothing much will happen. I’ll write more on Monday!

Author's Note:
This story is originally between Poseidon and Athena and the competition to be for the God of Athens. In the original story Athena won, but I have a soft spot for Poseidon and wanted to make his “daughter” to be the winner! In the original story the God and Goddess give the Athenians gifts and they choose the winner from that, but I wanted to make the competition more camp based! The flood really did happen though as well as the rivalry between them! In the introduction I had Alexa come off as very innocent, but it worked better for this story that she “fake” that innocence and use the boys to her advantage! I chose the image of a ropes course as I included that in the competition and thought the bike was a nice touch as in my introduction picture there were also bikes in that picture. I chose this story as it gave me a perfect lead-in for how Penny is going to get all of the gossip! As I made her camp leader, different from the original story, it makes sense now for the future stories as she will sit in and write the gossip later in her diary!
