Facilities

Sputter Deposition System

Custom-built off-axis rf-magnetron sputter deposition system from AJA International. Capable of depositing up to four materials without breaking vacuum.

Atomic Force Microscope (AFM)

SolverNEXT AFM by NT-MDT. In addition to both AFM and scanning tunneling microscope (STM) capabilities, this system can also perform piezoforce response microscopy (PFM) as well as nanoscale electrical characterization.

X-Ray Diffractometer

As of June 2020 we have a new Rigaku Smart Lab diffractometer. This system is capable of performing powder diffraction, high resolution diffraction, and reflectometry.

Probe Station and Electrical Test Equipment

A Signatone Probe Station can be used to perform electrical measurements on microscopic electrodes. As part of our collaboration with other groups on campus we use a Radiant Technologies Precision Multiferroic tester to measure ferroelectric hysteresis loops. Our department also has all the electrical test equipment you could want, including NI ELVIS workstations and LabVIEW for building custom electronics.
