EDIT 784, Designing for Community Participation, was the my first course in the DDLS sequence and also my first online learning experience. I connected and learned with my EDIT 784 classmates in an online classroom. I learned about the five types of communities, the importance of teaching good digital citizenship, and how to use digital technologies to design for community participation.
At this point in my DDLS process, I was still not very clear what it meant to "design." While learning about each community type, I also learned about various digital technologies that would be used to best facilitate a community. I considered learning experiences that would allow students to connect content knowledge with participation in an authentic community.
