CADME (Calgary Association for the Development of Music Education) is a volunteer-run registered charity that believes music has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and give voice to every learner’s story. Our vision is simple: wherever a young person lives, whatever their circumstances, they should have the chance to discover the joy and connection that music can bring.
Since 2003, CADME has been opening doors to music education across Calgary and area—removing barriers, creating opportunities, and inspiring generations. We’ve brought world-class artists into classrooms, hosted workshops and conferences that spark creativity, and supported performances that give learners the chance to shine. In doing so, we’ve reached tens of thousands of students and hundreds of educators, leaving a lasting mark on our city’s cultural life.
Our work is built on collaboration. We partner with schools, community organizations, and cultural groups to ensure that music education is not limited by geography, economics, or circumstance. Whether it’s a child picking up their first instrument, a teen finding confidence through performance, or an educator receiving the resources they need to inspire a class, CADME is there—quietly making sure the opportunity exists.
Funded entirely by donations, memberships, and proceeds from a bi-annual casino, CADME has invested over $1,000,000 into music education programs and events. Every dollar strengthens school programs, supports teachers, inspires students, and ensures that music remains a vibrant, inclusive part of our community’s heartbeat.
Because music isn’t just something we teach—it’s something we share, something we live, and something that belongs to us all.

Jens Lindemann on CADME...
“As both a professional performer and educator, I must say that my experience with CADME was beyond any expectations. The mandate of this organization is extraordinary and virtually unprecedented anywhere in the world. The students, mentored by international artists who are brought in to educate them both in concert and instruction, are the true beneficiaries. We simply could not have brought in the level of talent that we did for the 33rd International Trumpet Guild conference (first in Canada) without the help of CADME. I commend everything that CADME is about. The symbiotic relationship that you help foster between artists, students and community is a tremendous example of how things should be working not only in Canada, but around the world! As a Canadian now living in Los Angeles, CADME’s very existence makes me feel proud to be an artist and educator from Alberta”. – Jens Lindemann
