Consider joining the CAC Board!
Open nominations take place at the April general meeting. Nomination for Chair must follow one year on the board. Other board positions are open to any current member. The new board is voted in at the May general meeting, and begin their term in August. For more information on elections see our ByLaws.
Who Can Nominate Someone for the Board?
CAC Members can nominate themselves or other CAC members for board positions. The Chair must have previously served on the board. No board experience is required for the other positions.
How are CAC Board Members Chosen?
The CAC Board is elected each May by general membership, and their position begins August 1st of the new school year and ends the following July. Board members serve for one year. The board meets monthly to plan meetings and discuss district events.
What are the Elected CAC Board Positions?
The CAC has 6 elected board positions. Additional Committee Chairs are appointed by the Chair as needed at the beginning of each school year.

What are the job responsibilities of Elected Board Positions?
Read below for an overview of the CAC board position roles and responsibilities. (Any board position can be shared by two co-chairs.)
CHAIR - Lead all CAC Meetings, Appoint Chairs of all CAC Committees, Serve as spokesperson to the SFUSD and the BOE. Supervise planning for CAC general meetings. Direct publication of CAC letters, marketing materials and other CAC publications. Outreach to Advisory Committees and SFUSD Leadership. Prepare and present bi-annual reports to the board of education. Collaborate with the treasurer to oversee the budget.
1st VICE CHAIR - Coordinate Outreach Events, and School Site outreach. Manage planning for CAC general meetings. Support chair in preparation of reports to the Board of Education. Assist the Chair and in his/her absence serve as Chair.
2nd VICE CHAIR - Coordinate monthly meeting logistics (speakers, interpretation, tech, etc.). Support first chair and chair when needed.
SECRETARY - Records CAC meeting minutes and maintains records of the minutes. Records member attendance at monthly meetings, and keeps track of membership. Maintains the CAC email list and sends out meeting notices. Manages the CAC website and annually updates CAC outreach materials and flyers.
PARLIAMENTARIAN - Advises the chair on Robert’s Rules of Order. Reviews CAC Bylaws and recommends updates as needed. Ensures parent information and resources are available to members and the public. Oversees the nominations and elections of officers in April and May.
TREASURER - Prepare annual budget. Monitor budget. Manage reimbursement requests. Make financial reports at executive board meetings.
