In 1st Grade, students will:

-Discover how living things inspire biomimicry design solutions, investigate behaviors of parents and their offspring, and study plant and animal structures.

-Observe Sun, Moon, and Star patterns as well as study seasonal sunlight.

Animal Defense

(Indoor Program)

Next Generation Science Standards:

1-LS1-1. Use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs.

Ladybugs

(Indoor Program)

Next Generation Science Standards:

1-LS3-1. Make observations to construct an evidence-based account that some young plants and animals are similar to, but not exactly like, their parents

Where is My Home

(Indoor Program)

Next Generation Science Standards:

SEP 8. Read grade-appropriate texts and use media to obtain scientific information to determine patterns in the natural world.

Biomimicry

(Indoor Program)

Starlab

(Indoor Program)

Description:

Learning about science through our inflatable, portable planetarium will bring plenty of “oohs” and “ahs.” More than that, it will inspire your students to engage in a better understanding of the world around them.

In the dome, you can travel through a world of knowledge that includes astronomy, geology, physical geography, and more. With StarLab, educators can be confident the curriculum meets current Next Generation Science Standards.

Nature Walk

(Outdoor Program)

Description:

Students will get a chance to experience an outdoor space to notice nature and increase observation skills. They will be presented with an opportunity and task to identify various items in nature and make connections with the environment that surrounds them.
