Standard 8 - Collaborative Relationships – The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
The included artifacts show collaboration with the family. The first artifact is a welcome letter sent to parents at the beginning of the school year. This letter serves as both an introduction of the teacher as well as an acknowledgment of the parent as a key team member. The second artifact is a presentation that I gave on a family interview that I conducted. The purpose of the family interview was to gain more insight into the values of the family and the student. The interview helps to ensure that the teacher is acting in the best interest of the family.
