Standard 2 - Content Area and Pedagogical Knowledge – The competent teacher has in-depth understanding of content area knowledge that includes central concepts, methods of inquiry, structures of the disciplines, and content area literacy. The teacher creates meaningful learning experiences for each student based upon interactions among content area and pedagogical knowledge, and evidence-based practice.
The artifacts included below demonstrate my ability to plan a lesson that is meaningful and that addresses the needs of students. I have included a lesson plan demonstrating how to modify lessons and how to access student understanding. This lesson also utilizes evidence-based practices which encourage students to work with their peers. Also included is an excerpt from a lesson being taught on changing singular words to plural. This video shows a meaningful learning experience that encourages students to understand "the why" in learning.
