Eagle Scouts are eligible for the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness (NYSSCR). This seal is a distinction awarded to high school students who demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to civic knowledge, skills, mindsets, and experiences. It recognizes students' readiness to be actively engaged citizens. The Seal can be used as a +1 pathway to meet New York State diploma requirements and is also a way for universities and employers to recognize students' civic engagement
Civic Projects:
Students can earn points towards the Seal through participation in civic projects, service-learning experiences, and other forms of civic engagement such as the Eagle Scout project. You just need to show proof of completion of your Eagle Scout project and how it benefits the community to your school's Seal of Civic Readiness Committee. Contact your school counselor to find out if your school participates in the Seal of Civic Readiness.
Recognition:
The Seal is placed on a student's diploma and transcript, providing recognition of their civic achievements.
