and at that point you have quote-unquote started writing so yeah that kind of goes theres a kind of a tangent on a great way of getting to start started writing so thats okay so thats how to get started writing in the second half and then the first half do you have to be tough on yourself so you dont have to be tough on yourself but there is a great way of getting the outcome that you want and even getting a better outcome then then as normal from like a neutral point of neutral emotion but you get even better outcome but you dont have to push yourself at all thanks again Im Jared ball for creative Santa comm I do have a mini book about motivation its called tapping your comedy muse and it does not talk about these topics but it does I think I talked a little bit about the last thing I just said but we use for that book I used the psychologists knee high cheek scent mahai as a way uh hes kind of my role model there for motivation hes the one whos designed flow theory so if you know anything about creative flow as is a actual scientific idea people use the word flow all the time but he is the one that really came up with the the actual science behind it and he he has a great stuff on the science of motivation and and on some stuff on creativity as well and then I also Ill point you to another great motivational research book and thats theres a book called the willpower how to write a good thesis statement for an essay instinct that I highly recommend I love that one as well now if you guys have a recommendation aside from that I would love to to see what you guys recommend so Im Jared voli thanks for watching hello this is another writers chalk talk and Im going to discuss motivation you cant stare at a blank page you need to fill it up many times a day sometimes that seems impossible lets talk about how to keep your motivation high there are three basic methods of motivation they are passive external and internal the passive method of motivation may be the most common and its also the most useless this form of getting the impulse to work is known as waiting for the muse in olden times people thought ideas came from a creative spirit the muse would speak to them there was no guilt about words not appearing on the page it was the muses fault for not speaking this passive method of motivation is strictly for the superstitious if you wait for a voice to speak to you youll probably be staring at a blank page for a long time external motivation is when you give yourself a reward when you accomplish a certain writing goal like a predetermined work count or finishing a section or a chapter the usual external motivations are food perhaps an adult beverage or viewing a favorite TV show or movie the idea behind external motivation is that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down the writing itself does not satisfy so you have to bribe yourself to complete your daily writing tasks external motivation is best for how to write a good thesis statement for an essayskinny people because you need an enormous number of motivators to complete a book in my view internal motivation is the real deal it requires a person to take a look within for their motivation you write for the joy of writing not because youre waiting for a muse to speak or for a doughnut to call your name writers need to examine their own minds to get internal motivation working for them you see pleasure and pain receptors in your brain to be adjusted you depend on passive or external motivation because there is more pain in writing for you than there is pleasure you need to give yourself a large dose of pleasure to kill off the pain writers need to reset that pain pleasure balance when you change the balance so that you get pleasure from writing then you dont need any other kind of motivation writing becomes the motivation for writing writing becomes your addiction how do you reprogram yourself through association associate good feelings not rewards with writing surround yourself with pleasurable fragrances music and images you dont want hard rock and roll or other how to write a good thesis statement for an essay
