Prisma Health System is the largest private non-profit health care organization in South Carolina and is the home of the Medical Experience (MedEx) Academy. Since its inception 15 years ago, MedEx Academy helps high school and college students through engagement and exploration of various healthcare careers. Students participate in progressive learning experiences to introduce foundational competencies needed for a successful health profession career. Activities include preparatory skills and aptitudes analysis, in field clinical/non-clinical observations, research-rich learning experiences, and didactics built around the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) competencies.
