The AgriFCS Academy | South Carolina State University

The Agriculture and Family and Consumer Sciences Academy (AgriFCS) is a partnership between South Carolina State University and Alabama A&M University to expand opportunities in Food, Agriculture, Natural Science, and Human Sciences (FANH) careers. The AgriFCS Academy focuses on student scholarships, experiential learning, and community outreach to prepare future professionals for the USDA workforce.

Led by Dr. LaToya Johnson and Dr. Ethel Jones, the program recruits, trains, and supports middle, high school, and undergraduate students while engaging parents and educators in career preparation. The AgriFCS Academy also offers specialized certifications for college students to strengthen their skills in FANH fields. Aligned with the USDA’s strategic goal to attract and retain a motivated workforce, the AgriFCS Academy aims to impact up to 100 middle and high school participants and prepare 120 undergraduates for USDA employment.
