Our annual meeting provides an excellent opportunity to share ideas with colleagues, discover the latest developments in other statistics groups, and form lasting connections and friendships within the field.
The Burwalls meeting is a relaxed event aimed at motivating and supporting educators in statistics and evidence-based disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary science, and health. It is tailored for those teaching in Higher Education, the NHS, or similar organisations, offering valuable tools and insights to enhance their teaching practices.

The Annual Meeting concluded with a ceremony honouring educators who have demonstrated exceptional skill and passion. Several prestigious awards were presented, recognising outstanding contributions and dedication to the field.
Award Recipients
Best Newcomer: Dr Rebecca Whittle, University of Birmingham who presented "Teaching complex statistical concepts with R Shiny: A narrative, escape-room style workshop".
Best Contributed talk: (A tie) Dr Vikki O’Neill, Queen’s University Belfast who presented "Exploring variation in assessments: Bad Students or Tough Markers?" & Dr Owen Nicholas, UCL who presented "Maintaining teaching material at scale: from narrated slides to modular web lectures."
Most innovative teaching idea: Dr Luis A Sanchez A, Coventry University who presented "Personalized Chatbot for Dissertation Support: Challenges and lessons for the Future".
Best Outreach Idea: Dr William Kay, Cardiff University who presented "Demonstrating Sampling Bias: The Great Biscuit Experiment".
