Edgar Allen Poe Newcomb (1846 - 1923), of Boston, was the architect hired to design a vastly enlarged house that would have a large drawing room to the left, a handsome paneled library to the right and a lovely dining room behind it with the stained glass windows in the newly added bow window. In the library you will be able to see the English Mintons tile around the fireplace. The Shakespeare tiles were designed by John Moyr Smith and made by
Mintons in 1872.
