Thomas Swazey House

No. 3 Thomas Swazey House, Franklin Street

Built in the Federal style, which was noted for its symmetry, this home was on the 1850 town survey map. Swazey was a lumber merchant who married Clarinda Buck Darling in 1819. Swazey was born in Exeter, New Hampshire in 1795. He died in 1876 at the age of 81 and is buried in the local Oak Hill Cemetery.


This house appears on the Sanford & Leggett map of 1875 labeled T. Swazey.

The house faces Franklin St but entry is in the back of the house which can be accessed from the church parking lot beside the house on Franklin St. The back of the house can also be entered from the driveway on Central St. But there is no parking on Central St.
