DENISE MATTHEWS

We were born and raised in Baltimore City. Our sisterhood began over a decade ago as colleagues. As our friendship evolved, we discovered that we had a mutual core desire to seek wisdom and live a purpose driven life. As a result of that desire and commitment, we are the first African American women-owned winery in the state of Maryland.

I fell in love with wine long before I actually understood it. I was drawn to it many years ago when I was looking to expand my palate from my first love, Cognac. I later discovered that Cognac is made from grapes, now that makes perfect sense. I love, love, love sharing life with people and creating charming environments. I believe the alluring complexity of a fine wine in conjunction with superior concierge service, is utter bliss! I want to create this for every Philosophy Winery experience.

As a flowing (mobile) boutique winery, we present our luxury wines and superior concierge service at various Maryland premier venues. Our presentations are curated by Sommelier Denise Roles Matthews; composing an intimate and poetic wine experience. Also, we host monthly events at our production location and exclusive events for our Visionaries Club members.
