BTR 4 (Free Geometry) allows creating NBL configuration by defining/modifying the geometry&position of Free Surfaces. Each Surface is defined by its 4 corners position in NBI coordinates (X,Y,Z) and can be added by direct input (via dialog-box) or read from a file (CAD-models). When the number of Surfaces is about few hundreds, like in ITER NBIs, the Surf-file input is more effective. Usually the 2 methods are combined - the basic Surf set is loaded from a file, and then additional Surfaces are set manually (e.g. "transparent" planes to get a beam footprint, or "solid" ones to limit the beam tracing area).
