BTR-parallel, a multi-threaded version of Beam TRansport code is ready for use. It is integrated to the BTR standard graphical shell, where the old non-parallel BTR operation is still available.

The performance tests on a multi-processor machine indicate the parallel execution accelerates the BTR calculations proportionally to the number of processors. Due to additional code optimization BTR 2.0 runs 7 - 11 times faster than BTR 1.7 on 4-processors machine, with identical BTR-inputs. On a single-processor system BTR 2.0 running speed is 1.5 - 4 as large as BTR 1.7, due to the code optimization.
