I was responsible for the vietnam section
The project tasks were to collaboratively create a PowerPoint presentation after individually researching the demographics, climate and other factors that could affect the development and spread of the technology. There was a focus on highlighting the digital divide of the country.
Upon researching the climate and geography of Vietnam. I found an incredible place named, Hang Sơn Đoòng.
One of the most fascinating parts of the cave was how it came to be discovered. The story goes that the cave was originally found by a man in 1990, Hồ Khanh was out looking for wood when he stumbled upon one of the most extraordinary finds in the world. Without any gear to explore the entrance the man didn't know that what he found was special. He left the location to return home and couldn't remember where the entrance was.
Years later members of the british cave research association were exploring the local area and Hồ Khanh mentioned to them the cave. They asked to be shown the entrance, after a few failed attempts at locating the cave, they left. Hồ Khanh eventually went back on his own to explore and rediscovered the cave in 2009.
The cave is the largest in the world by volume measured at 1.36×109 cu ft. It is more than 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) long, 200 metres (660 ft) high and 150 metres (490 ft) wide. Unbelievable.
My partner and I started collaboration on the group discussion board. They had made a post asking if anyone would like to partner up and I replied letting them know I would love to. From there we exchanged emails and eventually phone numbers for ease. We worked to overview the project and then seperatley worked on the word document. After we finished that we came together to start on the powerpoint. Hannah found a great comparison template that we started working out of. We continued texting progress and making sure each other were okay with the changes being made. I enjoyed using the comments feature in powerpoint so we could easily see what changes we wanted to make. Luckily, Powerpoint saves versions of the project often because I accidentaly deleted one of her slides! I was able to go back to the old version- copy the slide- and then add it back into the current working file.
I think I gained some skill in using PowerPoint to collaborate while also finding a new way to make charts.
