“Blessed are the open hands that embrace the poor and help them: They are the hands that bring hope.” Pope Francis
Solidarity, in its simplest form, is the belief that we are all in this together. Regardless of our nationality, race, ethnicity, or ideological differences, we are one human family that shares a bond. It is rooted in a belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every human being. And that belief, that bond, should translate into an active commitment to seek justice and promote the common good.
It is more than just having empathy for others who are less fortunate. It should be rooted in action. It should be a commitment to build bridges of understanding, of inclusivity and a sense of belonging among all members of society. Solidarity calls us to make decisions and set priorities in our daily lives to act in a way that demonstrates that commitment.
