An increasing number of priests and religious sisters and brothers serving the Church throughout the US will be forced to abandon their ministries if policymakers do not act soon.

Unfortunately, many churches, schools, and other Catholic institutions have already had to part with men and women who served in our country for years because of challenges with the Religious Worker Visa Program.  

 Ask your members of Congress to join with legislators on both sides of the aisle in supporting this much needed source of relief for people of faith and communities nationwide. 

“Dreamers and TPS/DED holders are our neighbors, parishioners, and—most importantly—fellow children of God. We as a Church have long advocated for their legal protection and full inclusion in the life of our country.” Bishop Dorsonville 

The American Dream and Promise Act would provide such an opportunity for integration, recognizing the positive contributions to American communities already made each day by Dreamers and longtime residents relying on TPS/DED. Through the procedural mechanism known as a “discharge petition”, the House could be required to vote on H.R. 1589 in the coming days.

Please join in expressing support for this bill with your congressional representative at this pivotal moment in time!

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) was stripped from thousands of Afghan nationals living in the US, many of whom supported American troops during the war. Bill H.R. 9899 can fix this. Tell your representative to co-sponsor H.R. 9899 and bring it to a vote without delay.

At the beginning of the 119th Congress, the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2025 (H.R. 1144) was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. In April 2025, the chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration joined with national partners in calling on the House to pass bipartisan bill H.R. 1144.
