The current Florida State Standards require students to read and understand multiple pieces of text that are on grade level at the appropriate complexity. When students are practicing a skill or strategy in isolation, the intended purpose is for the students to be able to use that strategy when a standards-based question is being asked. Teachers, however, have to be very explicit when they are teaching a strategy. However, we must be able to embed several standards across multiple pieces of text. Below you will read why having text sets are important and some resources that can help you provide to teachers to maximize learning.
