April 2022 Edition 10 Volume 3
State assessments will soon be administered. As you schedule students for testing, it is recommended that teachers continue to engage students in authentic tasks for learning. Utilizing "bell-to-bell" instruction to maximize teaching learning should always be an expectation. Administrators and/or coaches might need to guide teachers to help them determine what kind of student tasks can help students build stamina and maximize instructional time.
Your regional teams will soon be reaching out to principals/district contacts to schedule End of Year Walks and meetings prior to the close of this school year. The purpose of the meeting is to review SIP action steps/strategies as well as identify barriers and next steps in planning for the coming year. We will also go through the Form SI-2 Checklist. A copy of this checklist is attached and can also be found on CIMS. Please bring to the meeting the most current progress monitoring data and any evidence you collected toward meeting your goals (focus for this year).
Last week, Pinellas hosted our annual District Convening: Restore, Recover, and Reimagine. Eight districts facilitated professional learning. We had over 100 district administrators from across the state learning and collaborating on best practices. A special thank to Dr. Michael A. Grego, Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools, for hosting such an amazing event. You can read more of in the Southwest section of the Region Corner of this newsletter.
Our Summer Academy, will be held on July 19-21, 2022, in Orlando. The BSI Summer Academy is intended for all district and schools who receive support from the Bureau of School Improvement. More information will be forthcoming and the Save the Date flyer can be found here.
As always we would like to remind you of our summer academy modules online webinars located on our Professional Library Series Site. Later this month, our Professional Library Site will include new modules that you can use with your teams.
Don't forget to visit our Region Corner sections to read about the great things that are happening across the state.
We are excited to be part of your school improvement journey and anxious to celebrate your accomplishments at the end of the school year!
Thank you,
