Jennifer Kruis is the Grant Manager for the Bureau of School Improvement and has served in this role since July 2020. She joined BSI in August 2018 as a Program Specialist. Prior to working at the Department of Education, Jen was a first-grade teacher for 12 years in Leon County. Her passion in teaching was reading and this led her to pursue a Masters of Education in Reading Curriculum and Instruction. As Grant Manager, Jen prides herself on providing courteous customer service along with timely and efficient communication to the districts and schools supported by BSI. Being immersed in the process and subsequent impact that both the external and internal team make through the continual decrease in the number of schools BSI supports is a rewarding experience.

Sydnie Petteway has been with the Bureau of School Improvement for three years. She specializes in grants including Title II, Part A, UniSIG, SIG 4 and Schools of Hope. In addition to supporting grant work, she assists in overseeing the Blue Ribbon School’s nomination process and is instrumental in providing feedback communication through the CIMS platform. Sydnie is currently attending the University of Central Florida and is pursuing a graduate degree. Prior to joining the DOE team, Sydnie worked with pre-school and afterschool programs.
Brooke Stone

Brooke Stone joined the Bureau of School Improvement in June 2021 as a Program Specialist. Prior to joining BSI, she served as the Dual Enrollment Program Coordinator for Tallahassee Community College, supporting approximately 900 students in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties. She has also served as Student Success Specialist at the Florida Public Safety Institute, where she worked with law enforcement, firefighter, and correctional officer trainees. Brooke is passionate about building strong partnerships with stakeholders and working collaboratively to impact students.
Lindsey Martin

Lindsey Martin joined the Bureau of School Improvement in December 2021 as a Program Specialist. Prior to working at the Department of Education, Lindsey was a third-grade teacher in Gadsden County and most recently a Training Coordinator at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Lindsey is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Learning and Cognition at Florida State University. She is eager to combine her knowledge and experience of education and juvenile justice to support school improvement.
