First Year Scout Skills Program More Info

Every August @ Woodruff Scout Center

This new program was designed to provide a skills weekend for Scouts who were

not able to attend a First Year program at Summer Camp. Meals and instructors are provided.

Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) More InfoThis workshop teaches youth leaders about their leadership role and how to most effectively achieve success in that role. It also teaches about collaboration, communication, and preparation. This course will usually be facilitated by the troop at the beginning of a new PLC term. The following classes are available at the Council Volunteer Service Center in 2022:

AAC NYLT

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) More InfoNYLT is a week-long advanced leadership course designed to teach Scouts the tools, techniques and skills they need to be better leaders – not only in their units, but also at home, in school, and in their daily lives. Led by an exemplary, highly-trained youth staff, NYLT participants work hard and play hard together through group activities, games, and adventures as they experience Scouting at its best. At the start of the course, NYLT participants must

Be age 13 or older
Have earned your First Class rank
Have attended ILST
Have a Scoutmaster recommendation

NAYLE

National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) More InfoNational Advanced Youth Leadership Experience is an exciting program that enhances leadership skills and expands upon the team-building and ethical decision-making skills learned in National Youth Leadership Training. NAYLE emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and selfless service, using the core elements of NYLT to help youth strengthen these skills. The NAYLE course is now available at all four national high-adventure bases. NAYLE a special experience. Scouts will live in a patrol setting and use their leadership skills to resolve exciting and challenging situations. NAYLE will equip youth leaders to be better unit leaders, NYLT staff members, and/or superior camp staff members. It will help guide their journey to become true servant leaders, able to develop the members of any team they lead. NAYLE provides life skills for now and the future. Scouts must be 14 but not yet 20 years old, hold a unit leadership position, and have completed NYLT.
