It can be confusing to know how to start or complete a merit badge in the Troop. This is why 2115 has put together a flow chart to teach or remind Scouts of the process. If you have any questions, please reach out to a Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair.
There is no additional fee for registering as an MBC if you are already registered as an Adult in the BSA.
Must have current Safeguarding Youth Training certificate available.
Complete the 34 minute Merit Badge Counselor Position Specific online training in My.Scouting.org.
Complete Merit Badge Counselor Application Form by going to the Altanta Area Council MBC Site . You will need to create a new account. While you can use the same credentials as your My.Scouting.Org account, the two applications are not linked.

There is a $25 fee to registering as a MBC if you are NOT already registered as an Adult in the BSA.
Create a My.Scouting.org account with the BSA. Make note of the BSA ID assigned.
Complete Safeguarding Youth Training (Instructions Here) - 90 minute online course.
Complete the Merit Badge Counselor Position Specific training on My.Scouting.org - 34 minute online. course.
Complete a BSA Adult Application.
Once the application is complete, the Troop's Chartered Organization Representative will need to sign the form, Andy Strain (andy.b.strain@gmail.com).
Send the completed form to the Atlanta Area Council through the Send Safely Portal.
Create an account with the Altanta Area Council MBC Site. While you can use the same credentials as your My.Scouting.Org account, the two applications are not linked. On this site you will complete the next two steps.
a. Submit the $25 payment through the Merit Badge Counselor Registration/Renewal Payment Form.
b. Complete the Merit Badge Counselor Application Form.
