The idea for a female BSA troop started in December 2020 when a pandemic-weary girl asking a seemingly simple question. Her brother had just returned from a BSA Troop 15 shooting sports weekend.Girl: 'Why can't we [girls] do shooting sports?"Mom: "Well, we [girls] can do that but we would most likely have to start a girl troop?"Pause - Mom is thinking the conversation is over.Girl: "Why can't we start a girl troop?"Mom: "Well...we could but...we would need more girls."Girl: "I can get more girls."
January 10th, 2021: The unofficial first meeting of Troop 2115. On this date, the troop # and meeting day/time were decided. 2115 is a combination of the year - 2021 and Troop 15, our linked brother troop.
On January 18, 2021, the Troop 15 Committee voted unanimously to fully support a linked girls troop. Our Committee Chair, Charter Org Representative and several others volunteered to provide leadership to the new troop. The Troop 15 Committee agreed to share equipment and other resources. Twin sisters of a Troop 15 Scout signed up for the new troop and we were at 5 girls, enough to get approval to move forward.

On February 6, 2021, we hosted an Open House in the freezing rain at the soon-to-be Scoutmaster's home. With assistance from a Troop 15 Scout and 2 female Scouts from other troops (177 & 160), the girls played games, did skits and hung out under tailgate tents in the driveway. Parents huddled in chairs under the carport and shared their pandemic stories of boredom and isolation. All of us felt the sense of community we had been missing. 11 potential families attended the Open House. All of them joined.
- On February 20, 2021, 5 girls and 4 adults attended our first unofficial outing. We hiked and had a cook out lunch at Panola Mountain with Troop 1919, a female troop in Dunwoody.
- On February 26th, 2021 our charter was official with 10 girls, 3 new adults and 5 adults shared with Troop 15.
- On Sunday, February 28, 2021 we had our first meeting with 13 new Scouts. Our first campout was just 5 days later, the District Camporee at Bert Adams Scout Camp.

Throughout the first year, girls kept coming. By the end of 2021 we had 17 new Scouts, 1 Cub Scout cross-over and 5 new adult leaders.
