At Brownhill Special School, our curriculum is designed to meet the diverse and individualised needs of all students, ensuring that every learner is provided with meaningful, engaging, and adaptive learning opportunities. We believe in fostering the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of each student through a holistic, student-centered approach.
To provide a flexible, adapted curriculum tailored to each student's unique learning needs, abilities, and interests.
To promote the acquisition of essential skills—communication, literacy, numeracy, problem-solving, and critical thinking—within an accessible and supportive environment.
To nurture each student's emotional and social well-being, fostering self-confidence, resilience, independence, and positive relationships.
To prepare students for life beyond school by developing their life skills, independence, and ability to contribute to their community and the wider world.
Pupils are taught in small groups, where they study the core curriculum and can receive the extra support they require. Learners are then able to make timely progress as staff can ensure that learning is tailored to individual student needs. In addition to the core curriculum, we provide rich and varied curriculum opportunities ranging from vocational courses, academic programmes and interventions that support pupils’ personal and social development.
