To provide an Alternative Curriculum which will improve the educational experiences and life chances of all learners in Rochdale.
Our Ethos is built on the principle of helping everyone to be the best that they can be. We seek to achieve this through providing outstanding opportunities and experiences for all pupils and by developing the outstanding relationships required to help our pupils to feel thrive and to feel safe, happy and successful.
At Brownhill PRS we underpin our vision and ethos with a clear values based approach which will facilitate the required opportunities and relationships our pupils need to succeed. These CARE Values are:
Courageous: At Brownhill, we will demonstrate courage at all times. We will face challenges and difficulties without fear. We will always do the right thing no matter how difficult it is. We will have the courage to make difficult decisions, to have challenging conversations and to make necessary changes which will improve the life chances of the children and community we serve. Courage requires resilience. It is essential that we develop the necessary resilience to deal with the challenges we face.
Ambitious: At Brownhill, we will demonstrate ambition at all times. This is ambition for ourselves as professionals, for our school and mostly for the students we teach. We will demonstrate a steely determination to succeed for ourselves, our school and our students. We will be ambitious to provide an outstanding quality of education which meets the specific needs of our students and to achieve constantly improving outcomes for behaviour, attendance and results. This ambition will be for everyone. It will be inclusive of all our community and stakeholders without exception.
Respectful: At Brownhill, we will demonstrate respect at all times. We will be polite and considerate of everyone at all times. This applies to all of our interactions both in person and electronically. Respect is shown by listening, understanding and communicating in a way which we would like to be spoken to ourselves. Respect extends beyond our interactions with one another. We will also be respectful of one another’s beliefs, faith and circumstances. This is demonstrated through tolerance, patience, acceptance of alternative views to our own and consideration of how what we say might make someone feel.
Excellence: At Brownhill, we will seek to demonstrate excellence at all times. We will always try and be the best versions of ourselves in everything that we do. This will apply to the quality of our work, our behaviours and our attitudes. We will continue to seek to improve ourselves and our practice. This will include a willingness to change and to self-reflect. These are essential qualities when seeking to achieve excellence. We will not only seek excellence from ourselves, we will seek it from each other and from the students. We will have the same ambition for them and also have the courage to challenge where excellence is not being demonstrated but to do this in a respectful way.
