Who is eligible to apply for SYEP with TCAC?
Be 14 to 21 years of age
Enrolled in and attending a New York City Public School (NYCPS)
Have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan
Reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, or Staten Island
Be legally authorized to work in the United States
How to apply for SYEP with TCAC?
Eligible students interested in participating with TCAC should carefully review the instructions below to ensure their SYEP 2026 Application is routed to TCAC and not the citywide general lottery. Please follow the specific pathway outlined below.
Under the Demographic Information section of the application:
Answer “Yes” to the question, “Does the applicant have a disability?”
Answer “Yes” to the question, “Does the applicant have an Individualized Education Program (IEP)?”
If you have a 504 Plan, answer “No” to this question.
Enter your school’s DBN to the question, “If You Have a DBN, Enter it Here?” This field must not be left blank. Note: The DBN is the combination of the District number (1-32, 75, 84, etc.), the letter code for the Borough (M for Manhattan; Q for Queens; K for Brooklyn; X for Bronx, and R for Staten Island) and the Number of the school. Example: 16K123 - You must put the entire DBN.
Find the DBN for your school here or ask a teacher or a parent coordinator at your school.
Leave Referring Agency” and “PIN #” fields blank.
On the “Summary” page, confirm that the information you entered is correct.
Ensure the correct spelling of your name, mailing address, and apartment number if applicable.
You must include a home number, if you do not have a home number put your cell number. If you have a home number, put both the home number and the cell number. Please also include Emergency contact number
For Secondary Email, please add your parent’s/legal guardian’s email address
On the “SYEP Provider Selection” page, leave all fields blank. Instead scroll to the bottom of the page, below the map, and select, “New York City Department of Education-TCAC."
