Week 1-2:
One of my first assignments during my internship at H&H Higher Education was to create a series of social media posts that effectively represented the company. This included showcasing their logo, incorporating their mission statement, and properly introducing the organization to a wider audience.
I approached this project with professionalism in mind, knowing how important a first impression is—especially if a recruiter were to view the page in the future. For the first post, I made sure to highlight all the key elements: the company's logo, a notebook, and a phone screen featuring a portion of their mission statement. This combination helped convey the brand’s identity clearly and cohesively.
In my second week at H&H Higher Education, I continued working on the company’s introduction through social media content. This particular post served as a follow-up to the initial one, offering a deeper look into the Excellence Foundation and its role within the organization.
With access to a variety of logos, I selected one that still reflected the company’s identity but added a fresh visual element. My goal was to structure this post in a way that felt like the opening page of a zine, newspaper, or magazine—inviting, informative, and visually engaging. It was important to strike a balance between creativity and clarity while maintaining the professional tone of the brand.
Another one of my initial assignments at H&H Higher Education was to develop a comprehensive brand guide tailored to the type of content I would be creating. This guide focused on defining the tone of voice needed to connect with our target audience effectively, as well as outlining the visual style and language appropriate for each platform—Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
By analyzing the nuances of each channel, I ensured the brand’s messaging remained consistent while adapting to the unique expectations and engagement styles of each audience. This foundation helped shape a cohesive and strategic content approach moving forward!
This graphic was meant to introduce the upcoming post behind the "Spill The Tea" event which was an all girls event hosted by H&H Higher Education and The H&H Excellence Foundation. This event was made to empower women to share their stories and experiences with others. This event was held in person, so there were tea tastings, games and even a photobooth! It was held on Saturday, May 17th!

Week 3:
I was tasked with creating a content calendar of graphics to post. I got straight to work once the third week came around. Honestly, I drew from my own personal experience and tied it into H&H. I love coffee and any caffeinated drink, so this was certainly my area of expertise. I wanted to make it fun and captivating while also highlighting the brand's signature color — dark green.
I absolutely love using real-life stock images in my work. I feel like you can really see that come into play here. It's very simple, yet eye-catching!
Since music is such a prevalent part of my life, I wanted to add another informational yet fun graphic. The graphic itself wasn’t meant to give away the main point of the post — that’s where the caption comes in, providing the rest of the context. That’s why the design is intentionally simple.
I wanted to create a fun background, so I played around with layering and transparency. I also love experimenting with fonts in individual graphics. While I do have a few brand fonts for the logos, this week I wanted to be more experimental and try something new!
Now, this one was THE most fun to create. I have always been inspired by what other graphic designers do on Instagram and Pinterest, so I decided to put my own spin on it for this company. I wanted to incorporate a food item that corresponded to the first letter of each value or important practice within H&H. For example, Empower = Éclair, Coffee = Career. You see the pattern now!
Of course, I had to include one of the logos in the corner. Across all of these, I used a similar font so that, in my honest opinion, everything for the week looks cohesive and consistent — which is super important when you’re just starting out on social media. Consistency is key!
Week 3-4:
Into the end of my third week, I wanted to be able to make simple, yet eye catching graphics that discussed more about the mission that H&H has to offer. For this, I entirely based it off the mood boards I created earlier on and used all of the foundational colors to be able to get my point across.
Once week four started, I wanted to play around again with fonts. Yes, of course, you still want the brand ones, however with how much I am using the one I will most likely in the future be editing that document. Aside from that realization, I wanted to use an inclusive picture of young people (can be really any age) talking in regards to why club involvment in super important for high school students tranferring over to be college students soon. This was just a glimpse into what the caption explained and I feel like it captures your eye just enough -- especially with the girls red sweater!
This one was also made during week four. I had a difficult time coming up with an arrangement of items to create a graphic that I liked. I was stumped until I went back to my roots and used the photos tab in Canva and was able to create something I am actually quite proud of. I wanted it still give the style of a student looking something up, hence the reason why there is a mouse and a search bar. This kind of geared away from the brand colors, but I feel like being able to rationalize the colors you use is important. I decided to go with a pastel vibe because we look at screens so much, why make them more painful? I also wanted to break the sterotype of pink and use it on a platform that is used for all!
Week 4-5:
For this week, I was tasked with creating a few interactive posts where people would be able to respond and interact with our content. I thought a good, yet basic start to this was what study habits have worked for students versus what has not. This way, viewers can discover what worked for them versus what did not.
After I retrived the photos from this event since they were professionally taken, I decide to take it into my own hands to create a post based off of the Girl Talk Mentoring Program that H&H offers. They had one of their first events this past May and it was a huge success. I wanted to document that and also play on the color scheme that was in the invitation post. I saw a graphic of a person pouring a cup of tea and ran with it from there. I added a bunch pink to make it aesthetically pleasing and (this was my first time editing the color of the H&H logo, which was used using the duo tone effects.) to get the point across that this was for a Girl Empowerment Program. I did end up using one of the photos to introduce what the rest of the reel would be.
In the second half of this post, I wanted to do a photo collage much like what I have already done in the past for their Instagram accounts. I decided to duplicate the post I already made and keep the background color one of the brand colors to make it cohesive. I still wanted to use a green, so I decided to take advantage of that here and use it when I placed the photos in a "photobooth" like frame. I had a lot of fun designing both of these frames. I love adding the digital camera and bringing in some of the color I used in the last slide into here. This way, everything is cohesive and makes sense in terms of the going from one place to the next. Side note: these are the solid frames or thumbnails - this was actually posted as a Reel!
Weeks 5-6:
During this week, I was tasked with creating posts that were meant to go to the basics: branding and also informing the public. I came up with this one first because when most people think of college... they have to consider expenses first. Knowing the importance of how scholarships can help you is the first step to narrowing down as to where to go. I enjoyed making this because it was pretty plain and simple, with my own twists on things.
Now, this one was the most fun. I wanted emphasis of chaos during the college transition stage, or, just in life in general. I wanted to remind viewers that it is okat to take a break every now and then especially during the transition into a whole new enviroment. I made a few posts like this because I feel like it is often something we, as humans, tend to forget. We are so in our head about THE next thing, that sometimes we barely give ourselves to focus on other aspects besides work.
Since these were made during the summer, most of the platform was geared towards students that are 17+ years of age. Giving them some advice is extremely benefical, so that once fall and school time arrives this alleviates any stress factors that were being considered prior. Very much stuck to the brand colors, to make the page look fairly consistent. Also just is an eye catcher as well!
Weeks 6-7:
This was a discussion I had with the head of H&H and my wonderful boss, Dr. Tashena Briggs! She suggested I cover a life longer supporter and friend, so I used images that were given to me and that was really the only baseline I had with this post, specifically. I added a photo of him off to the side because of rule of thirds and also he is very much a multi-dimensonal person ( a photographer and an author) then, I added a collage and text description of who he was.
This post was very timely in a sense that I wanted to give off a summer vibe, but with H&H brand colors. I feeln like for this week, this was personally my strongest post because of the dynamic and the flow of the post itself. This was an interactive post as well. Giving viewers the opportunity to engage with the content.
This one was just funny because of the play on words. Of course, the word minor has many different, but from the context of running a higher educational account -- you can right off of the bat and get understand the point I am getting at. Minor meaning a secondary academic focus outside of ones major. I really enjoyed curating the design in the background and finally getting able to toy with typography.
Final Weeks: 7-8
I could really feel on a personal level that my visual langauge was definitely evolving. I was finally finding that "sweet spot" and decided to learn more about typography and how certain texts give off different vibes. I wanted something bold, but not entirely in your face. I wanted to make it fun and cute, so that is why the cats are placed there. Sure, do they have any direct correlation, no, BUT at first glance you want to know. It is an attention grab almost. A marketing tactic that placing cute and relevant items on something will mame someone more likely look at what you made!
This was my last still post of my internship. Alongside my other one, this certainly felt the most professional and polished piece I created. I used the attention grab like the last one and wanted to take on a grocery esque style. This was also a callback to my menu post which incorpated food in an educational setting. Its fun, playful and colorful. I feel like this is definitely my style and I felt very proud of this one.
Internship Recap Video:
My very last task and post was to create a 30 second of more video covering the ins and outs of what being an intern was like at H&H Higher Education. I could of made it simple and quick -- like recording myself talking to a screen. Nope! I wanted to integrate all of the skills I have learned (both now and in the past) and put them into a grand finale. I used Procreate, which is an iPad based digital art app to draw and animate myself talking about my experience. I used a bunch of images, transitions and even added captions at the bottom all using Premiere Pro which I learned how to use in my Media Productions class my freshman year of college. I feel like this was very bittersweet for me because I wanted to give it my all, but I knew this would be my last post for awhile. I wanted to showcase everything that I know and love and I feel like I was very successful with just that.
I learned what it means to be a valuable asset to a real company with real people. After all, this was my first time doing social media for an actual company. While being an intern, I now have experience in Adobe softwares, Canva Pro and Meta Business Suite. Sure, the thought of that was daunting, but what really motivated me was that Dr. Tashena Briggs entrusted me to build her partnership account, H&H Excellence Foundation, from the bottom up. Out of over 20 interns I chosen to run and guide the LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram pages. This was nothing, but an absolute honor and I sincerly thank Dr. Briggs for her kindness and support. Without her, I would not be where I am today in terms of my graphic design and social media journey.
