This in-class activity was completed Friday, January 10th at the start of the spring semester. It asked us to lightly skim the most important sections of an academic paper (in this case, ChatGPT is Bullshit) and write a brief reflection on its contents. At the time, I remember being confused on the point of the assignment. I later realized the strategy we employed for analyzing the academic paper - reading its abstract, introduction, section headings, and conclusion - were useful when finding academic papers and research articles that were useable for our own final research projects.Â
This applies to the Information Literacy course outcome, which asks that "students will be able to evaluate and act on criteria for relevance, credibility, and ethics when gathering, analyzing, and presenting primary and secondary source materials."
