LIMINAL PEOPLE

Guided Meditation & Film Night, March 2023

In March 2023, we were invited to support 'Liminal People', a pop-up event to explore Black British musings around identity, belonging, and group-actualisation. This event was curated by BRMTWN Member Jaz Morrison.

The event began with a Guided Meditation from BRMTWN Member Tesha Murrain-Hernandez, where guests were invited to settle into the space and prepare for the film programme. Films on show were Amartey Golding's 'Chainmail 3' (2018), Larry Achiampong & David Blandy's 'Finding Fanon 2' (2015), Exodus Crooks' 'Great(ish): The Gaslighting of a Nation' (2020), and BRMTWN Member Tanazia Gabriel-Fleary's 'Mind of Colour' (2020).

BRMTWN Members Hassan Ul-Haq and Jessica King documented the event. We're grateful to have supported 'Liminal People' in so many ways.

A grey room with a green mandala projected onto the back wall. Sat on a foldable chair against the wall is Tesha, dressed in a pink suit and white bucket hat. Her cane is resting against her chair. Sat facing her, on an array of chairs and beanbags, are various guests. Many have their eyes closed or their heads low, focusing on the guided meditation.

SPECIAL THANKS: Amartey Golding, Exodus Crooks (formerly known as De'Anne), Larry Achiampong & David Blandy, Tanazia Gabriel-Fleary, Tesha Murrain-Hernandez, Hassan Ul-Haq, Jessica King, Jaz Morrison, Borbala Soos, and Eastside Projects.
