Hi, I'm BrittanyAnn Schumacher, or Britt for short.  I have been a massage therapist for twenty years, and although I still have great enthusiasm for the profession, the physical demand of the work is strenuous.  I enrolled at College of Dupage with the goal of becoming a better reader, writer and Librarian someday (not as strenuous I hope).

As an avid reader (an understatement) and writer, it's always been a dream of mine to go back to school, polish my writing skills and work in a library or museum as a second career in life.  My only child, a daughter (in the picture with me to the right), has flown the coop to spread her wings at college, so here I am, an empty nester, starting another new chapter on my journey.

To be honest, I enrolled in this class because reading poetry, for me, is hard! I truly want to understand it!  I enjoyed Robert Frost and Shel Silverstein as a child, and fortune cookie wisdoms if they count, but I'd love to develop an ear for the more mature works.  I've recently had the honour of making introductions with Mary Oliver, but I cringe at the thought of translating Shakespeare.  I'm looking forward to gaining more insight into this genre (and making William proud)!
