A class featuring a variety of games and challenging puzzles to practice multiplication, mental arithmetic & logic and explore some basic number theory with prime numbers.

Parent volunteers work with 3-5 students to solve problems and do other hands on activities in this evening math club. The focus of the group is on teaching problem solving strategies like Guess and Check, Make an Organized List, Work Backwards, Make a Table, Draw a Picture, Logical Reasoning and so on. Math Kangaroo problems from levels 1-4 are frequently used as examples.

A hands-on, minds-on active learning approach to working on the number line, making equations, spatial reasoning, understanding multiple representations of numbers & setting the foundations of place value with teen numbers. Materials included cusinaire rods, block puzzles, pattern blocks, ten frames, math balanes, and many card games.
