Youth Leadership Council
EarthEcho International is building a global youth movement to protect and restore our ocean planet, founded by Philippe Cousteau Jr. (Ocean Explorer, Emmy-Nominated Filmmaker, Author, Social Entrepreneur, Co-Founder of SeaWeed Naturals)
Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day at Washington, DC
The Youth Leadership Council came together in July 2022 to plan critical steps in striving for ocean climate action, engaged in Capitol Hill meetings with Congress Members, meetings at the US State Department, with federal agencies, @noaa administrator, and so many more!
About the Council
EarthEcho was founded on the belief that young people have the power to change the world. You are invited to join the Youth Leadership Council—a team of young environmental leaders, selected annually through a competitive application process, who play a key role leading EarthEcho’s education programs while developing and implementing campaigns to mobilize young people worldwide to protect our ocean planet.
Through this unique experience, you will grow as an environmental leader, gain an understanding of the operations of an international non-profit organization as you shape our work and mission, and build connections with your peers and EarthEcho partners working around the world to ensure a sustainable future.
Roles and Responsibilities
Brigitta is part of the Education and Outreach committee within the Youth Leadership Council (YLC). She is responsible for creating accessible educational resources about ocean advocacy, and providing youth with the right tools to empower their environmental activism.
Before joining the YLC, Brigitta served in the 2021 OceanEcho 30x30 Fellowship for a 3-month campaign planning focused on amplifying the impact of youth-led action to support efforts to protect 30% of the global ocean by 2030 (30x30) through the creation of marine protected areas.

World leaders gathered in New York City for the UN General Assembly, and our message is clear: we call on world leaders to protect 30% of the global ocean by 2030.
GenSea
Young people ages 13-25 are invited to join GenSea, a global community of young ocean advocates, connected through networking, learning, and collective action to protect and restore our ocean planet. By joining the GenSea digital platform, powered by EarthEcho International, you’ll directly connect and collaborate with a community of fellow ocean advocates from 50+ countries to share resources, ideas, and inspiration. GenSea features monthly events and virtual trainings to help you build skills in advocacy, communications, entrepreneurship and more, while unlocking access to unique opportunities, including the chance to serve on the EarthEcho Youth Leadership Council. Through your participation, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work and apply the skills gained to take direct action to protect our ocean planet with your peers, EarthEcho, and our partners.
