The YMCA is a great place for families to engage in gross motor activities, including swimming, the gym (with exercising equipment), etc. The YMCA also has youth programs and childcare programs. All of the activities, programs, and membership include a reasonably low cost, especially for low-income families. Additionally, it has numerous locations for families to choose from and can be accessed through the use of public transportation.
Temple University’s Center for American Language and Culture (TCALC) allows people to take classes to increase their proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English. This benefits families who are English Language learners (ELLs) and may need more support in learning how to communicate with others who primarily speak English. The courses are offered online and in-person and to adults and high school students.
