My plan was to go to Naxos and take the ferry to nearby Mykonos, In order to go to Delos from there. But It turned out that the ferry only ran twice a week and I'd missed It by a day, so I spent the time exploring Naxos, which Is one of the largest Cycladic Islands. Plenty to see. I loved it!
Winging It, I found a charming little studio apartment near the center of Chora town - and the beach. The people at the shops and cafes were incredibly nice. The bustle of the town didn't resemble the chaos of Thera at all.
The Portas was part of an unfinished temple and is the symbol of the town.
I took a bus across the Island to the little town of Moutsouna, stopping at a potter, a kitron shop, and the giant kouros, as well as having lunch at the beach.
Walking up to the Castro or castle through the town's narrow paths and arches, to find a fascinating museum. Cycladic figures to rival the Met's!
