Though the Earthwatch was a bit of a bust, there was plenty of time to wander around the city.
From the Hotel Tempi to the Benaki Museum, the tower of the Winds, an Evzone, the Temple of Zeus, the subway at Syntagma, the ... and the Restaurant Scholario, I wandered everywhere.
The Parthenon was In terrible shape, with both side columns disassembled, but the Erechtheum was reassembled, and the Propylaia was under re construction. A view from the Pynx Is unforgettable, as long as you can keep your balance on the marble height.
I loved walking around the Agora and going to the Theseum, as I had In 1983. It's never very crowded. The American School Is no longer there but the museum of artifacts from there persists.
