On behalf of the bridges Multicultural Resource Center, we would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to UC Berkeley! In celebration of your admission, bridges invites you to participate in our Transfer Weekend (TW) programming from Friday, May 2, 2025 - Sunday, May 4, 2025.

What will TW'25 be like?
Transfer Weekend is a completely FREE, all-expenses-paid, 3-day, 2-night event that invites newly admitted low-income, first generation, transfer students of color from all over the state to experience the multicultural community at UC Berkeley. The weekend includes resources, academic and political workshops, student panels, and an exciting exploration of Berkeley! The purpose is to celebrate your accomplishments, as well as acquaint you with Cal’s campus and community, to help you make the most informed decision about your future.
We will transport you from your town/nearby city (by plane, train, or bus) to explore UC Berkeley’s campus for the weekend, through a bridges perspective. Transfer Weekend will offer you the chance to have fun, get to know fellow prospective Berkeley students, and get the feel of what your life may be like, if you decide to enroll. Additionally, you will become familiar with the campus, its attractions, and many of the resources available.

Sign up for Transfer Weekend through your MAP@Berkeley portal! In the same website where you view your UC Berkeley admission decision, click on the "Cal Central" tab, where you will see our event listed as "bridges Transfer Weekend."
TW is intended for low-income, first-generation, BIPOC* students who have been newly admitted to UC Berkeley.
*BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, (and) People of Color

bridges Multicultural Resource Center is a coalition of 7 student-initiated, student run Recruitment and Retention Centers (RRCs), that was formed to meet the needs of underrepresented students of color. For Transfer Weekend, bridges and each RRC creates their own unique programming to suit the needs of the students in their respective communities. The Black Recruitment and Retention Center is a student-initiated, and student-run organization founded in 1983 that works to supplement, expand, and create efforts on campus and within the community toward the recruitment and retention of Black students at UC Berkeley. Throughout the school year, BRRC hosts multidimensional small and large scale recruitment events such as a 4-day Bay Area College Tour [BACT] for 100 Black high school students, Senior Weekend and Transfer Weekend, statewide outreach trips, and more. We also host retention-focused events for current students like Community BBQs, Performance Nights, Balls, Study Jams, Professional Development, and more. Furthermore, we engage in additional efforts such as the #BlackatCal scholarship, listening sessions, and administrative meetings with campus leaders to try to positively shift the campus climate and uplift Black students.

The Indigenous and Native Coalition (INC) is an on-campus student organization that recognizes the significance of keeping higher education accessible and attainable for Native American and Indigenous Students. INC offers different kinds of social, academic, professional, and cultural events. INC holds an important role in fostering the Native and Indigenous community on campus as we: connect new and prospective students to current students, build close relationships with members within the organization, and connect students with other Native spaces and organization on campus.

The Middle Eastern North African Recruitment and Retention Center is a student-initiated and student-run organization on the UC Berkeley campus that works to support and empower self-identifying students of the MENA community. Through scholarships, statewide outreach events, internships, application workshops, study jams, professional development, panels, administrative meetings with campus leaders, and a variety of social events, we are committed to providing resources towards the recruitment and retention of MENA identifying students at Cal. We work with MENA identifying students outside of the university to ensure that they are supported during their transition to higher education. Mixed @ Berkeley (MRRC) is a student-run organization with the bridges Multicultural Resource center that caters to low-income, first-generation, and/or underrepresented students of color who identify as mixed, multiracial, multiethnic, multicultural, and/or transracial adoptees. We strive to retain students of color at UC Berkeley through the implementation of programs that support the academic, cultural, and social experiences of the mixed community. We also aim to recruit and increase the number of students of color into higher education through outreach efforts and programming.

Pilipinx Academic Student Services (PASS) at the University of California, Berkeley is an entirely student-run and student-initiated organization that was formed in 1985. The work within PASS hopes to remedy the lack of representation of Filipinx students at all education systems (UCs, CSUs, privates, and community colleges) across the state, with respect to the growing Filipinx population in California. The organization primarily focuses on increasing the educational opportunities available to these students through the implementation of various informational resources via workshops, referrals, and support services such as mentorships, financial aid, and retention events. Our staff consists of four directors, 11 coordinators, and several interns working towards the commitment of educational access, equity, and attainability.
