Before the formation of bridges, the RRCs known as Raices, BRRC, PASS, REACH!, and INC worked hard to provide students of color with the proper resources to excel in higher education. They also hosted events that catered to these ethnicities, such as the RRC Admits Weekend and others
The bridges Multicultural Resource Center was born out of students' struggle for representation and the lack of support they received in higher education. bridges became a means to circumvent the restrictions that Prop 209 imposed on ethnic/racial specific outreach and retention.
