The Meeting

Wednesday 16th September - Friday 18th September, 2026

Aimed towards students, postdocs, and senior researchers, this 3-day conference brings researchers together from across the UK to share their current developments within the overarching field of galactic chemical evolution, including from the subfields of atomic and nuclear physics, planet formation and chemistry, stellar physics, Milky Way research, and extragalactic research. During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to share their research with the rest of the community through presenting talks and social networking.

Schedule and programme

Conference dates: Wednesday, 16th September - Friday, 18th September 2026

Social Events:
Trip to Bayfordbury Observatory (Wednesday 16th)
A £23.50 fee covering a coach and a pizza will be collected from you during registration Wednesday morning.
Coaches are scheduled to depart from the Forum at 17:45 and will return to the same location.

Social Dinner (Thursday 17th)
19:30 onwards at Côte St. Albans. Attendees are rquired to organise their own transport.
All food is covered by the organisers. All drinks except the first are to be covered by the attendees.

Location and Venue

The conference will be held in the newly opened Spectra building of the University of Hertfordshire. Located in Hatfield, England, this building houses the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science (SPECS), with the Centre for Astrophysics Research (CAR) located on the third floor.

The majority of the conference will be held in this building, with excursions and social activities bringing us elsewhere.

Accommodation

We have secured a number of rooms within the student accommodation located on the College Lane and De Havilland campuses to be used for attendees of the school and/or conference. These will be available for £65 + VAT per night.
