This was the original table.
This was a rough design proposal
I disassembled the table to start
The legs and body were sanded down to bare wood
Once the wood was sanded, it was conditioned
The wood was then stained and left to dry
The top of the table was sanded down as well
Chess boards and the school logo were calibrated for CNC in VCarve
Here is another angle
The design proposal was updated to accommodate the new needs of the project
The wood was then milled to include the chess boards
The board was painted to include the white boxes and blue backround
The school logo was also milled with the CNC machine
This is the final milled board
I then filled the board with tabletop resin
The resin did not cure all the way, so I coated the table with polyacrylic. However, the table then got left in the rain, ruining it.
I scraped off all of the bad resin and polyacrylic, then poured on new resin.
I then reassembled the table. The resin did not fully cover the table, producing a cool, water effect.
