Laser cutting is using a powerful laser to cut and engrave things from materials like plastic, wood and other things.
First, I designed my cut in VCarve9 using a online picture and a bitmap trace.
Then, I put my design into RD Works to make the laser cutter able to read the bitmap.
Finally, I was able to use the laser cutter to cut and engrave my design into the acrylic.
First, I went to makerspace.com to make the dimensions and layout for the box I wanted. This let me put in the dimensions and get a 3D model.
The website also gave me a 2d layout of the box's cut. The blue lines indicate a corrugated cut, which will let the wood make curved bends.
This is my design proposal for the box. I never actually ended up cutting the box, but it was still really fun to design.
