Dr Stone Hsieh
Dr Hsieh's research focuses on 1) how lifestyle behaviours, such as physical activity, are related with symptoms of ADHD, 2) the psychology of disordered eating and behavioural interventions to address them, and 3) the links across ADHD, disordered eating, and mental health conditions.
Lab Technician
Dr Jocelyn KwokÂ
Jocelyn holds a PhD from the University of Hong Kong, with a specialisation in Educational Psychology. Her research primarily focuses on children's literacy and cognitive development, along with an in-depth exploration of specific learning disorders in reading (dyslexia and specific reading comprehension difficulties). Additionally, she is interested in the broader field of neurodevelopmental disorders and their impacts on learning.
PhD Students
Lauren Dacorro
Lauren completed her MA in Cognitive Psychology at San Francisco State University, where she used EEG to examine the relationship between emotion and working memory. Prior to joining the BREAD Lab, she worked as a Research Associate at Stanford University, utilizing EEG and fNIRS techniques to explore cognition in individuals with ADHD. As a Psychology PhD at Kingston, her primary research focuses on examining the neural markers to characterise ADHD and using exergaming, a combination of exercise with video gameplay, to reduce behaviour and neurocognitive symptomatology of ADHD in school-age children.
Yu Tian
Yu Tian completed his BSc in Physical Education at Shanxi University and MSc in Strength and Conditioning at Loughborough University. Before joining the BREAD Lab, he worked as a fitness and conditioning coach for different populations. His PhD project aims to explore the efficacy of sports participation in changing brain function and executive function in children with ADHD. By combining his practical experience in the fitness and conditioning field with his academic backgrounds, he aims to develop a sports programme that is theory-driven, user centred, and ecologically valid to children and parents.
Dianne Francisco
Dianne completed her Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Psychology at University of Sydney and her MSc in Developmental Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University. Before joining Kingston University, she had the opportunity to work as an intern psychologist at a telepsychology firm and as a research assistant and facilitator for the Psychological Association of the Philippines to deliver a group-based psychoeducation intervention aiming to increase resilience and support Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a PhD student, Dianne's research aims to explore the diffulties that people with binge eating may have and examine the effects of mindfulness meditation and aerobic exercise on food reward in people with binge eating traits.

Qanita Fatima
Fatima joined BREAD Lab in May 2023 while completing her undergraduate Psychology degree at Kingston. Currently she is a research coordinator for research projects with children with ADHD and their parents. Fatima is also studying her Clinical Mental Health Sciences MSc at University College London. In the future, she would like to purse research to tackle health inequality among ethnic minorities.
Salma Hashim
Salma completed her MSc degree in Clinical Applications of Psychology at Kingston. She joined BREAD Lab while completing her master's dissertation, which examined the relationship between socioeconomic status and cognitive ability and mental health in school children. Currently, she is a research coordinator for the NEAR-KIDS study.
